Tonsillectomy
with or without Adenoidectomy
Kelly Garrity
DNAP, CRNA
Tonsillectomy with or without Adenoidectomy is the course for any CRNA not doing these procedures on a regular basis. Dr. Garrity will walk you through what you will experience and what you should be thinking during these ENT procedures. Even for the experienced provider, there may be several points of knowledge either forgotten or maybe never thought of.
With years of experience doing ENT, Kelly has a firm grasp on the anesthesia for these patients. Children are not just small adults. We hear that all the time, and in this course Kelly will bring that sentence to life with several points.

ENT Surgery
Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy is an extremely common procedure among any pediatric population. For many pediatric ENT surgeons this is the bread and butter of their profession. You need this procedure in your repertoire to be a confident CRNA.
Historically the T&A procedure was done due to recurrent infections, but now most T&As are done mostly for Obstructive Sleep Apnea issues. You need to be proficient in what these patients need before, during, and after anesthesia. Dr. Garrity will give you the confidence you need.

What will I learn?
Dr. Garrity will give you the "low down" on the T&A procedure and when you follow along, you will find that her explanations make good common sense. You will leave this course with a renewed understanding and appreciation of the anesthesia for this procedure.
Additionally, you will earn one AANA preapproved class A CE credit.

Meet the instructor
Kelly Garrity
I have been providing anesthesia in Columbia, South Carolina, for over twelve years at a combined Level I Trauma Center and Children’s Hospital.
I graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine with a Master of Nurse Anesthesia in 2009. In 2020, I received a Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia Practice from Texas Wesleyan University.
While I provide anesthesia for all ages and most specialties, my preferred area is pediatric ear, nose, and throat (ENT).
Besides being an anesthesia provider, I also enjoy and find great satisfaction in being a clinical instructor to the nurse anesthesia residents that use our institution as their primary clinical site.
One of my favorite quotes is from Benjamin Franklin, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”
When I am not working, I enjoy spending my time hiking in the mountains and traveling with my husband and golden retriever.
